Everyone was cheering, Wesley was jumping and laughing, it was a lot of fun. Good job Wesley!

Chicken Dinner!
On our way out of Walmart, Wesley and I stopped up front so he could sit in the plastic car that moves and shakes if you put quarters in it. Since moving and shaking scares him to death, I get to save quarters and he just sits in there for a while. But he seriously loves it so it works out well for everyone. Three minutes into a most exciting chair sit, I started getting the gambler's itch as the crane game's flashing lights worked on me. I just got done thinking to myself that a dollar per play is a complete ripoff when I realized I actually had a single dollar bill in my pocket, plus there was this stuffed Christmas bear with a funny hat saying hi to me. I had a surge of confidence I've never before felt that I'm sure most people get right before they lose money. Wesley had never seen the game played before and I thought it would be fun for me him, and as soon as I asked him he was all over the idea. A small crowd had gathered to watch as we walked through how we were going to do it--I'll line it all up, you push the red button when I say push. I lost my dollar forever, the 20 second timer started, and:

Just ducky
A couple of days ago I took a blanket that wesley had been sitting on while having a living room picnic, and shook some cupcake crumbs out onto our patio. Later in the day we enjoyed seeing little chirpy birds come and peck at the crumbs. So yesterday I decided to crumble up some more cupcake in the hopes of attracting more birdy love.
Well, we are feeling the love! Wesley was ecstatic and has been loving to feed mama and papa duck when they happen by for a snack. I love spring!

Christmas '10
This December our stake had a community nativity festival at the stake center, and as one of the attractions they had a live nativity out in front of the church, complete with camel, donkey, and a couple of sheep. They asked our family to be the characters of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. It was an amazing experience, having had a baby boy a few months earlier, to reflect on that moment in history that means so much to us all. Fredrick was a trooper even though it was FREEZING (you may notice the unusually chubby appearance of the characters . . . we were wearing layers under layers) and slept the entire two hours.
The next morning (mid-day, let's be realistic about our skills as morning people) we drove up to Federal Way for Christmas with the Johnsons. It was too quick a trip, but it was all the time off that was available. Double Boo. It was so fun to see Ben, Casey and their family (minus Molly. We miss you Molly!); Joy, Matt and their fun boys; Joe, Mandy and their adorable guys; and Mom and Dad Johnson. I didn't get pictures of that visit because I'm lame and I'm used to having events photographed for me! (My mom is a great photographer. We wouldn't have pictures without her!)
It was a fun season, and hard to let it go. But with our anniversary, LeGrand's birthday, Valentine's day and then my birthday in quick succession, we had lots of fun things to look forward to.

Fredrick's Blessing Day
On Sunday we were able to have Fredrick blessed in church. Randy did a wonderful job, and it was a very special moment for our family. We were so glad that Dale and Darlene were able to make it to celebrate with us.
I was grateful that Fredrick with all his eating and growing still fit into the blessing outfit that I knitted for him. The pattern was from a Norwegian designer and was a stretch of my skill. It isn't perfect, but I was happy with the end result.
The beautiful blanket Fredrick was blessed in was crocheted by my mom. Thank you!!!

We get more and more dimpled smiles every day. I think he rather likes all the kisses and smothering from his big brother! I'm glad these two are friends already. I'm convinced the reason Fredrick came when he did was for Wesley. I can't wait to see these two grow up together.

Happy Half-Birthday to Randy!
Yes, Randy finally has a birthday stocking. Maybe one of the reasons that I have rationalized putting off that project for so long is that Randy thinks that birthdays, let alone half-birthdays, are kind of silly. A holiday celebrating the fact that you didn't die is usually the kind of comment I get out of him in relation to his special day. (He knows better than to bring things like this up in regards to my birthdays, smart man.)
But I think I've finally broken him. After getting pampered with special meals and presents an extra day of the year, I think he might be getting the idea why most of us like birthday holidays. In any case, we love him very much, and think that he is a very special dad/husband worth celebrating.
These two have a very special friendship. Full of love . . .
. . . and block building . . .
. . . and giggles . . .
. . . and BASEBALL!
I think he's pretty okay too. My snuggle partner (yes Ben, in the middle of summer we still share a blanket--it's cozy!) . . .
. . . My love. Have a happy day!
